Bayhealth Welcomes New Senior VP-Finance

1Bayhealth announces the appointment of Michael J. Tretina, CPA, MBA, FHFMA, FACHE, to the position of senior vice president and chief financial officer. Tretina brings over 28 years of experience in health care finance including expertise in reimbursement, accounting, strategic planning, patient access, patient financial services, and health information management.

“Mike Tretina’s depth of experience and unique strengths will be a fantastic addition to our executive team. His leadership will make sure Bayhealth is well-positioned to fulfill our mission and provide first-class care to our patient communities,” said Bayhealth President and CEO Terry Murphy, FACHE.

Tretina joins Bayhealth from Mary Greeley Medical Center, in Ames, IA, where he served as vice president and chief financial officer for four and a half years. Prior to that, he served as vice president and senior vice president of finance at St. Vincent’s Health System, a 900-bed hospital and sub-acute health care system in Jacksonville, FL.

“I am excited to join Bayhealth and support its mission. I have been very impressed by the staff’s dedication to excellence in patient care and the warmth my family and I have been offered,” Tretina said.

Earlier in his career, Tretina held senior-level positions at Mercy Health Corporation, Allegheny Health System, and Heffler & Company, Certified Public Accountants, all in Philadelphia.

He is a fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He has served as a board member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association in Iowa and Florida.

Tretina earned his bachelor of science degree in accounting at The Pennsylvania State University and his master of business administration in healthcare administration at LaSalle University, in Philadelphia. He is a certified public accountant.

Tretina is active in many professional associations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and has a long history of community involvement. Welcome receptions have been held at Bayhealth Kent General and Milford Memorial as well as other community venues.
