On Saturday, March 15 Downtown Milford Inc. (DMI) will host the 4th Annual Toasting the Town: St. Patrick’s Pub Crawl. A growing tradition for the Milford community, this year’s Pub Crawl will feature six local businesses and five local restaurants and pubs as DMI continues their commitment to highlighting downtown Milford. Each business will feature a sampling of a unique drink or food and celebrate the holiday with a twist that reflects their specific business.
The event encourages participants to walk through downtown Milford wearing official Pub Crawl shirts. The t-shirts will have the participating vendors names printed on the back of them as attendees will receive a check mark on the back of the shirt for each vendor they visit. Starting the Toasting The Town event in 2011, DMI has sold out of participant t-shirts every year. This year 350 shirts will be on sale at local businesses including Arena’s Deli & Bar, Dolce Bakry & Coffee, Downtown Milford Inc, Mispillion River Brewery and Fur-Baby Boutique & Doggie Daycare starting Friday, February 28.
“It’s great to see so many people come out wearing the same shirt in support of DMI,” commented Event Organizer Sara Pletcher. “The Pub Crawl is one of our biggest fundraisers and it helps provide for other events and happenings downtown.”
Participating merchants will have specials for event shirt wearers established in their place of business. These may include discounted drinks and food specials and wine and beer tastings from local breweries and wineries. From 5 to 8pm on the night of the Pub Crawl Dolce Bakery & Coffee will host Dofish Head Craft Brewery, Fur-Baby Boutique & Doggie Daycare will host Mispillion River Brewing, Second Streets Players will host Fenwick Wine Cellars at the Riverfront Theatre, the Milford Senior Center will host 3rd Wave Brewery and Painted Stave Distillery, Abbott’s Grill will host 16 Mile Brewery on Walnut Street and Tax Chicks will host Old Dominon and Fordham Brewery. Open from 5pm to 1am on the night of the Pub Crawl Abbott’s Grill, Arena’s Bar, Longshots Sports Bar & Billiards, Park Place Restaurant and Lounge and the Milford Tavern will continue the event.
“This event attracts all generations to visit downtown Milford and see what the town has to offer,” stated Pletcher. “Even if they don’t shop the night of the Crawl, people get a great sense of the community and hopefully will come back and visit again.”
Shirts can be purchased before the event staring Friday, February 28 at local businesses including Fur-Baby Boutique & Doggie Daycare, Dolce Bakery & Coffee, Arena’s Deli & Bar and Downtown Milford Inc. Event shirts will be $16 for small through extra large shirts and $21 for double and triple extra large shirts.
