According to the Milford Police Department, scammers are calling residents identifying themselves as City of Milford Electric Department requesting overdue payments be made with a green-dot pay-pal card via telephone or have the electric turned off. The Caller ID is “Spoofed” from the internet and showing the valid city of Milford Telephone number. Residents are urged NOT to provide any personal information via telephone and NOT attempt to pay by telephone using pay pal cards. If you receive such a call, simply hang up. You may contact the City at 422-6616 to verify if they have tried to reach you by telephone regarding utilities.
