School Board Discontinues Administrative Contracts

By Terry Rogers

On Monday, December 15, the Milford School District Board of Education voted on the renewal of administrative contracts at their regular board meeting. Three of the more than 20 contracts voted on were not renewed by a roll call vote, with two of the contracts receiving unanimous no votes and three ending in a tie which required a special Executive Session. After the session, only one of the ties ended in a non-renewed contract.

According to Superintendent Phyllis Kohel, the three contracts that were not renewed were David Carter, Principal of Milford High School, Travis Moorman, Director of Secondary Education, and Jon LoBiondo, Assistant Principal at Evelyn I. Morris Early Childhood Center. Dr. Kohel said that Dr. Carter and Mr. Moorman were personnel issues that could not be discussed, while Mr. LoBiondo’s contract was not renewed out of fiscal diligence.

“Every year, because we cannot determine the enrollment of Morris prior to the start of the next school year, we do not renew the assistant principal’s contract at that school,” Dr. Kohel explained. “If the September 30 unit count funds that position again, we will issue a new contract.”
