HELPFUL INFORMATION & REMINDERS

City containers must be placed out by the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.
Items EXCLUDED from solid waste collection are tree stumps, rocks, dirt, sod, bricks, tires, iron, paint, construction materials, automobile batteries, propane tanks and other items restricted by the landfill.
Personal containers PROHIBITED. No Trash, Yard Waste or Recycling will be removed from any container not issued by the city except during spring and fall cleanup weeks.

No special pickups will be scheduled during any holiday week throughout the year. Yard waste or bulk pickups will not be collected the week in which the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year holidays fall.
Resident who do not adhere to these rules will be subject to a fine in accordance with the City of Milford Solid Waste Management Code (Chapter 193).

BULK SERVICE

Bulk rates have increased from $5 to $10 per each large item. A minimum fee of $10 will be charged for a scheduled pickup. Bulk trash is defined as “large items” and/or “excessive non-household trash in bags or boxes”.
Residents must call Customer Service at 302-422-6616, Option 2 to schedule a pickup. Bulk items will not be removed if a pickup is not scheduled with Customer Service. For excess trash removal, a sliding fee scale applies. Please visit our website at www.cityofmilford.com for fees or call the Customer Service Department for an approximate cost. Bulk charges will be added to your utility bill. Bulk is considered a “Special Pickup”.

RECYCLING SERVICE

Recycling is offered every other Thursday; routes coincide with the customer’s regular trash collection day:
GOLD ROUTE – Monday Trash Customers MAROON ROUTE – Tuesday/Friday Trash Customers.
Please visit www.cityofmilford.com or www.dswa.com if you have any questions about what is acceptable/ unacceptable for recycling. Customers may also call Customer Service.

YARD WASTE SERVICE

Yard Waste is offered every other Wednesday (same week as recycling–see route schedule on reverse).
Yard Waste piles and limbs outside of the city-issued container will not be removed and are the responsibility of the homeowner as stated in the City’s Solid Waste Management Code.  Alternative places to take excess yard waste: Blessings Greenhouse 302-684-8990 or DSWA Milford Transfer Station 302-424-2968.
Yard Waste may only be placed in a city-issued yard waste container (no exceptions).
Mixing of yard waste and household trash and/or recycling is strictly prohibited.
An additional yard waste container is available for a one-time fee; this charge will be added to your utility account.

LEAF VACUUM SERVICE

The leaf vacuum will operate from November thru January. Leaves shall be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your regular collection day (see gold or maroon route schedule on reverse). It is illegal to place leaves in the street.
