On Friday, January 23 Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital announced the promotion of Andrea Holecek, EdD, MSN, MBA, APRN, AOCNS, to the position of Director of Patient Care Services at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital. In her new position, Holecek oversees patient care at Milford Memorial, including services provided in critical care and med-surg units, dialysis, vascular access, wound care, and the bariatric program.

“We want to make sure that we’re continuing to provide the highest quality of patient care,” Holecek said, “We want to meet or exceed the goals we’ve set for ourselves.”

Holecek, a resident of Lewes, Delaware, has been employed with Bayhealth for 24 years. She joined Kent General as a licensed practical nurse out of nursing school. Then, she used Bayhealth’s Tuition Reimbursement Program to pursue her RN, BSN, MSN, MBA, and finally, her Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership. Throughout her career, Holecek has been involved in many patient care initiatives, including the development of Bayhealth’s Vascular Access Team and implementation of the Safe Patient Handling Program . In 2014, Holecek was a primary writer of Bayhealth’s Magnet® Document, a major step in the application process for the prestigious Magnet Recognition Program. Holecek now serves as Bayhealth’s Magnet Program Director and is leading organizational preparation for Magnet site visit in February.

Holecek is also passionate about giving back to the community. In fact, she was a co-founder of Bayhealth’s Professional Nurse Portfolio Program©, an incentive-based program for nurses, encouraging them to further their own education, professional development, and outreach to the community.

“I love hard work. I’m driven to do a good job,” Holecek said. “It gives me great fulfillment and joy when we have excellent patient outcomes.”
