Former Miss Milford Crowned Miss Delaware World

3Staff Report

Taylor DeMario, former 2014 Miss Milford, was crowned Miss Delaware World winner on Sunday, January 18 at World Café Live at the Queen in Wilmington, DE. Taylor will move on to represent Delaware at the Miss World America Pageant in July 2015 in Washington, D.C., where the national winner will represent America at the 65th Annual Miss World, the largest and most prestigious international pageant, representing Beauty with a Purpose.

DeMario is the Marketing/Investment Team Coordinator for EagleView Capital, the Wealth Management Division of First Savings Bank. During her reign as Miss Delaware World, DeMario will continue to focus on aiding Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The news of a family member being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis influenced DeMario to help other families dealing with the condition. With more than 1,550 known cases of MS in Delaware, DeMario states that Delaware has one of the highest occurrence rates in the nation.

“The news hit our family hard and none of us knew what MS was at the time,” commented DeMario. “It is hard to believe that anyone could woke up one morning paralyzed from the waist down as he was. I started to get involved and believe that we need to create more awareness about the condition and hopefully we can find a cure. I will spend my year focusing on community service and raising funds and awareness for MS. The project and i beginning is creating programs for children with Pediatric MS.” In recent years, DeMario has been able to raise nearly $10,000 for the MS Society.

Miss Delaware World 2015 contestants were judged in several categories including runway, swimwear, evening gown, interview, and public speaking. As Miss Delaware 2015, DeMario will compete for the title of Miss World America 2015. This year marks the first time in over 30 years that the Miss World Organization has welcomed state titleholders in the United States, therefore, DeMario is the first Miss Delaware World since 1994. DeMario is looking forward to being able to meet girls from around the country that share similar values and excited to present her Beauty with a Purpose project to the Nation “to show what how just one person can make such a big impact.”
