FSDA Dancers Support Senior Center

First State Dance Academy (FSDA) in Milford held a free mid-year dance concert performance at the Milford Senior Center on Sunday, January 25, showcasing FSDA ballet student’s accomplishments. At the performance, dancers entertained a full house with standing room only while raising over $600 for Milford senior citizens. This year, FSAD will celebrate its 15th year in business in Milford. Over the past decade FSAD’s students have received scholarships, acceptance and awards to various summer programs and colleges through their skills in the art of dance.

Featured at Sunday’s performance were some performances from dancers who competed in the Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP) at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. Youth America Grand Prix is the world’s largest student ballet scholarship competition. Each year over 5,000 talented students from across the globe audition at semi-final rounds. YAGP’s reputation as a showcase for dance students is such that even passing the preliminary round gives participants an important distinction and boost to their professional dance career. Student Taylor Hogan place top 24 out of over 100 competitors in her age group. FSDA dancers Katie Fields, Hope Wright, Tyler Wright and Glory Tucker also competed at the YAGP this year.
