Subject Wanted in Milford Home Invasion Has Been Arrested
 
Dustin Niebert has been located and arrested  in connection with an early Monday morning home invasion that occurred northwest of Milford
 
Police state that the incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. Monday February 16, 2015 in the 6000 block of Melody Lane, when a male suspect, later identified as Dustin Niebert, 26 of Ellendale (Photo attached), unlawfully entered the home of a 91-year-old female while she was sleeping.  Niebert proceeded to tie the victim up and then removed some jewelry and cash before fleeing in the victim’s vehicle.  The car was later located abandoned a short distance away.
 
A family member, who hadn’t been able to reach the victim by phone, responded to the residence around 3:30 p.m. that afternoon and located the elderly female still tied up in her bedroom.  She was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for apparent non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
 
Numerous tips were received by the investigating detective and Crime Stoppers which assisted in locating Niebert.  Around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday February 17, 2015, he was taken into custody by state police within the limits of Milford and transported back to Troop 3 where he was formally charged by troopers with Robbery 1st, Home Invasion, Assault 2nd, two counts of Theft where the victim is over the age of 62, and Unlawful Imprisonment.  Niebert was also charged by Milford Police Department for Shoplifting as well as being arraigned on a Kent County Superior Court capias.  He was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $10,500.00 cash only bond.

Troopers are looking for an Ellendale man wanted in connection with an early Monday morning home invasion that occurred northwest of Milford

The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. Monday February 16, 2015 in the 6000 block of Melody Lane, when a male suspect, later identified as Dustin Niebert, 26 of Ellendale (Photo attached), unlawfully entered the home of a 91-year-old female while she was sleeping. According to police, Niebert proceeded to tie the victim up and then removed some jewelry and cash before fleeing in the victim’s vehicle. The car was later located abandoned a short distance away.

She was transported by EMS to a local hospital where she was treated for apparent non-life-threatening injuries.

Dustin Niebert is wanted by state police for Robbery 1st, Home Invasion, Assault 2nd, two counts of Theft where the victim is over the age of 62, and Unlawful Imprisonment. He also has a warrant out of Milford Police Department for Shoplifting as well as having a Kent County Superior Court capias.
