Burglary and Theft of a Firearm


On the afternoon of April 14, 2015 the Milford Police Criminal Division responded to a residence in the 400 block of East St after receiving a report of a burglary and theft of a firearm. While conducting the investigation, detectives received a separate report from a separate victim stating that the possible burglary suspect had been allowed to use a vehicle that he had yet to return as agreed upon. Police state that investigation revealed that Matthew Gannon Jr., 26yo, of Milford, had failed to return the vehicle as agreed. Milford detectives obtained an arrest warrant and Gannon was later apprehended in the vehicle in New Castle County by the New Castle County Task Force. Gannon was later turned over to the custody of Milford Police. Milford detectives continued the ongoing burglary investigation and received additional evidence that Gannon did break into the residence and then removed a firearm from the residence. Gannon was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Theft of a Firearm, Criminal Mischief Under $1000, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and traffic offense. Gannon was committed to SCI in default of $21,000.00 secured bond.
