Rescignos Coming To Delaware

22Twins and Delaware natives Robbie and Paul Rescigno are coming back home for a one night only performance of their award-winning comedy show The Rescignos at World Cafe Live at The Queen, 500 N. Market St., Wilmington, DE, Saturday, October 3rd at 8 pm.

Donning sweater vests and each armed with a razor-sharp wit, Paul and Robbie Rescigno are like Cain and Abel, but with more singing and less fratricide. In The Rescignos, the titular twin brothers star in an award-winning comedy show that hearkens back to an old-school vaudeville act with contemporary material and brand-spanking new music. If “old-school” feels redundant, we only need to remind you: they’re twins. Redundancy is what they do best.

“We’re so excited. It’s a real treat for us to come down and do our show at World Cafe Live. We were talking the other day and realized we haven’t been on a Delaware stage since we were in high school. So much has changed since then. In those days, we were skinny, gawky, awkward teenagers,” Paul said. To which Robbie added, “Yeah, now we’re older.”

Robbie and Paul Rescigno both graduated from Milford Senior High School in 2002 and attended Syracuse University where they each received degrees in acting. Now they are living and working in New York City while performing their own cabaret theatre. During their freshman year of college the twins were encouraged by Jerry Thompson, former Band Director at the Milford High School, to begin their own show. It was that suggestion that inspired Robbie and Paul to continually develop a show during their tenure in college. They kept notes and drafts as they waited for their chance to bring it to life.

The Rescignos had its first performance in 2006 at Syracuse University. Since then, Paul and Robbie have been developing shows, and in the past three years they have performed regularly to sold-out crowds in New York City’s cabaret rooms, winning both the 2011 Nightlife Award and the 2011 Bistro Award.

“We always have a great time when we get to bring the show on the road, and we hope to do more soon. We were just in Vermont a couple weeks ago, and can’t wait to continue our grand tour of the smallest states when we come to Delaware,” said Robbie. “And then we’ll be back in NYC for our annual holiday show in December. Outside of that, we both have a couple projects we’re working on that we’re excited about, and we’ll see how those unfold.”

Paul said, “Robbie likes to be modest when he talks about what’s next.I’m gunning for the Nobel prize in theater. Is that a thing? No? Well in the meantime, my future plans mostly include figuring out how to continue to afford rent in New York City.”
