Sex Offender Apprehended after Fleeing to Wilmington

On December 11, 2015 the Milford Police arrested and charged 39yo Joseph A. Smith Jr., of Milford, with Failure to Re-Register as a Sex Offender. Milford Police detectives first attempted located Smith at his registered address located on Marshall St. during the month of October 2015. Smith had failed to re-register and provide verification of his address and other personal information for his TIER 3 Sex Offender status. Police state that detectives discovered that Smith no longer lived at the residence and did not have the same employer and that investigation later revealed that Smith had fled the area. On December 11, 2015 the Wilmington Police Department located and apprehended Smith in Wilmington on Milford Police Department’s active arrest warrant for Smith. Smith was arraigned and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in default of $2,000.00 secured bond.
