One of Delaware’s most popular festivals is just around the corner. The 13th Annual Bug & Bud Festival takes place Saturday, April 23 from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. along Walnut Street and the Mispillion Riverwalk in historic downtown Milford. Hosted by Downtown Milford, Inc., and the City of Milford Parks and Recreation Department.
This year’s festival will not disappoint. The always popular Ladybug and Tree costumed parade, 100+ arts and crafts vendors, diverse local entertainment all day, food vendors, “Get in the Zone,” games & activities for the young at heart, a childrens art show and “green-themed” nature related hands-on activities including seedling tree giveaways, a Chalk art contest, paddle boat rides, the Shipbuilder River Race – a kayak race on the Mispillion River, a pizza eating contest plus the always popular costumed parade and the pets parade.
The parade of little tree and ladybugs, closely followed by costumed pets, starts approximately 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Calvary Methodist Church, 301 S.E. Front Street, led by the Milford Community band, “the Bug Strutters.” The parade winds through town and the prize winners are announced at the library amphitheater after the parade. The Grand Marshall of the parade is Don Abrutyn.
