In Milford, Easter will go to the dogs on Saturday, March 26 from noon to 2pm in BiCentennial Park as Fur-Baby Boutique & Doggie Daycare will host a pet-friendly Easter Egg Hunt and Costume Contest. The annual event invites four-legged friends to lead their humans around the Mispillion Riverwalk in search of eggs that contain gourmet treats and rewards. In addition to the hunt, pets will have the opportunity to strut their stuff as awards are handed out to the best costume.

One thousand eggs, containing all-natural, grain free treats will be hidden throughout BiCentennial Park as several hunts will take place, 20 dogs in each group. In addition to having fun, parents and their pets will be introduced to healthy food and treats that will assist in health lifestyles choices for man’s best friend. Fur-Baby Boutique & Doggie Daycare owner Sherry Shupe states that adopting a holistic approach to health is vital for dogs to live a happy, fulfilling life.

“Selecting the proper food and nutrition for your dog is the most important choice you can make toward their every day health,” said Shupe. “Many times when we encounter dogs that come in with health issues, it is derived from the food and treats they are eating.” Fur-baby does not carry any brands that have had past recalls and are diligent in researching ingredients of all of their products.

Volunteering for a local rescue in her spare time, Shupe originally created the boutique on Walnut Street as a store that would provide much needed funding for animal rescue and adoption. The store would be staffed by volunteers and provide education and adoption services through the storefront. Shupe leased the building, bought inventory and was ready to settle on the plan when the rescue pulled out of the agreement. Left with a house full of inventory and a new storefront, Shupe decided to leave her job in the Pharmaceutical Industry and become a retail business owner.

“I had to take a leap of faith, a very uneasy step into the unknown world of retail where my only experience was as a consumer,” said Shupe. “I just had to follow my heart and interest and trust that with hard work and the support of my family and community I would be alright. I had no idea it would take off as quickly as it has, 3 moves in 4 years, or in so many new directions with the addition of grooming, daycare and hotel services.” The connection between and love for animal rescue continues as all Fur-Baby events help support local rescue organizations. Easter Hunt participants can pay $10 to hunt, which will go directly to the local Paws of Tomorrow Animal Rescue. The organization will also be onsite with adoptable dogs.

The egg hunt is for dogs only as little humans are welcome to attend but may not hunt. Each hunter will be given a bag to keep their gourmet treats inside. Families can register by posting their name and how many Fur-Babies will attend on the Facebok ‘Fur Baby Boutique’s 2nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt & Costume Contest’ event page. All Fur-Babies attending must be up to date on Rabies & Distemper vaccines, be in good health and remain on a leash and under control by an adult at all times. Due to safety concerns, no retractable leashes are allowed. On Saturday, March 26 dogs and their owners are encouraged to dress up for the hunt and participate in the Costume Contest where judges will determine Best Easter Bonnet, Best Group, Most Original and Best in Show.
