DMI Hosts Battle 2 Brewgrass Competition

b1To kick off the excitement for the 2nd Annual Brewgrass Festival, set for Sunday, June 12, Downtown Milford, Inc. (DMI) is planning three lead up events titled Battle 2 Brewgrass. With a battle of the bands concept, fourteen bands will compete for one 30-minute set on the Brewgrass acoustic stage in front of 600+ Brewgrass attendees.

Battle 2 Brewgrass Round 1 will kick off on Sunday, April 17 at 1:00 pm at Mispillion River Brewing (MRB), the Brewgrass Festival’s presenting sponsor, with seven acts. These local acts will take the stage on the 17th: Charlie Hitman, Bryan Scar, Whiskey Rebellion, Harrison Doyle, Honey Badgers, Danny Whitecotton, and Matt & Josh. All acts will feature an Americana, bluegrass, and/or folk sound and special thanks to Hooverville, a local classic rock band, for hosting Round 1.

April 17 at 1:00 pm will also be the start of ticket sales for the 2nd Annual Brewgrass Festival. Located on the northern and southern banks of the Mispillion River in BiCentennial and Memorial Park, the event offers live bluegrass music, food and beer tastings from local Delaware and Maryland breweries. Highlighting Milford’s largest natural resource, the Mispillion River, and the bicycle and pedestrian paths that surround the river known as the Mispillion Greenway Riverwalk, residents and visitors to Milford can experience the blend of nature and entrepreneurial spirit that downtown Milford offers.

Ticket pricing is as follows: $75 – VIP: Limited to 30 tickets. VIP guests will enjoy an extra hour of Festival fun from 12-1pm, souvenir cup with 24 beer tickets, a goodie bag including Festival t-shirt, MRB glass voucher, $10 food voucher, private port-a-potty, WSFS sponsored private tent with charging stations, tables & chairs. $30 – General Admission, includes souvenir cup and 12 beer tickets. $40 at the door, includes souvenir cup and 12 beer tickets. $5 – designated driver, includes 2 bottles of water or cans of soda. DMI is seeking seven acts to compete in Round 2 of the Battle 2 Brewgrass Competition. Individuals and bands interested to share their musical talents with the Milford community can email jdb385@gmail.com for the sign up form. Round 2 is set for Sunday, May 1 and the final round will be Sunday, May 22. Both events begin at 1pm. Two acts from Round 1 and two acts from Round 2 will compete in the final. Audience members, along with DMI, MRB, and hosting band representatives will determine the winning acts for each round. Food will be available for purchase from Mr. BBQ at all three events.
