Join the fun of the parade and do not forget to dress up the family pooch as a tree or a ladybug for the annual Bug & Bud Festival (B&B) Parade on Saturday, April 23. The annual parade for children dressed as trees or ladybug expanded last year to include a new category, the family pet.
Milford’s popular local business, Fur-Baby Boutique, Daycare and Spa, is again helping Downtown Milford, Inc., (DMI) by helping promote the pet parade. In keeping with the tradition of a prize of $50 for the best tree costume and $50 for the best ladybug costume, the winning pet tree and pet ladybug will also get $50 each. For more star attention for your pet, Fur Baby will also be handing out a treat to any pet visiting their store in costume during the festival.
“We are grateful Fur-Baby is helping us again to help promote the pet parade,” said Marilyn Ambrose, chair of the Bug & Bud Festival. “The whole parade with the band leading, followed by the children and pet parade make for a wonderful fun time. It really is a crowd pleaser.”
Ambrose noted this year there will be new separate judges for the children’s costumes and the pets costumes to keep everything fair and square. Get creative and get going on a new costume in plenty of time for the parade.
All the participants in the parade must meet at 9:30 am in the parking lot of the Calvary Methodist Church, 301 S.E. Front Street. The Milford Community band, “Bug Strutters,” will lead the parade through town and the grand Marshall of the parade is Don Abrutyn. All the prize winners, human and furry, will be announced at the library amphitheater after the parade.
In addition Fur-Baby Boutique is also hosting a special adoption day at their 204 NE Front Street location in downtown Milford in conjunction with the Paws of Tomorrow.
