Milford Police Department
At 86 years young, it’s difficult to find Richard Sames sitting around. He is very active as one of our Senior Patrol members, along with spending time on the board of the Milford Senior Center, attending his church and singing in its choir, helping out as a member of the Masonic Lodge here in Milford, or taking care of his favorite thing….being a Boy Scout and serving on the Del-Mar-Va Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Sames was honored on June 2, at a small ceremony at the Milford Senior Center. The ceremony was attended by representatives of all the organizations he volunteers with, along with family and friends as Roger Marino, Director of Community Relations of Mountaire Farms, presented Mr. Sames with the WMDT/Mountaire Farms Better Delmarva award for June 2016. “The award celebrates persons, companies or institutions on Delmarva doing the right things where we live, work, play and pray” said Mr. Marino.
Mr Sames has volunteered with the Milford Police Department’s Senior Patrol Program since 2007, and has been involved with the Boy Scouts since 1942! He is the currently the second oldest Scout in Delaware according to Mike Link from the Delmarva Council of the BSA with 74 years of service
Mr. Sames’ award presentation will air on WMDT Channel 47 beginning in July. For more information on the Better Delmarva Award, visit Mountaire Farms’ website at: http://mountaire.com/corporate-responsibility/community-relations/scholarships-awards/
We are proud to know Mr. Sames and appreciate all of his hard work in making Milford a better place to live, work, play and pray.
