Smyrna Woman Charged in Internal Theft

On May 24, 2016 the Milford Police Criminal Division arrested and charged a 35yo Smyrna woman in connection with Internal Thefts that occurred while the woman was an employee of a local apartment complex management office. Tashana E. Smith was charged with Felony Theft $1,500.00 or Greater, Forgery 2nd Degree (4 counts) and Falsifying Business Records. Police state that investigation revealed that Smith, while employed by the Management Office of the Cascades Development, advised tenants to provide her with blank money orders for rent and that told them that she would fill the money orders out for them. Smith would take the money orders, make them out to herself, cash them and keep the money. Smith had also advised new tenants to provide her with cash only for 1st month’s rent, security deposit, etc. Smith would then keep the cash from the tenants that were due to move in. Smith obtained over $8,800.00 from May of 2015 to December of 2015. Smith was arraigned and released on $11,000.00 unsecured bond.
