Empowering Youth With Savings Habits

Staff Report

During the month of April, Credit Unions across the nation celebrate National Credit Union Youth Month. This program recognizes the Nation’s youngest savers, while encouraging them to embark in good saving habits that will last a lifetime. National Credit Union Youth Month is a great reminder to our country of the importance of empowering our youth with the knowledge and habits that will lead them to financial freedom. Delaware’s largest Credit Union, Dover Federal, provided extra incentive for their youngest members to save by automatically entering all student savers, who opened a youth account or made a deposit into an existing youth account, in the month of April, to win an iPod touch.

Dover Federal CEO David Clendaniel stated, “I encourage our iPod winner and all of our young savers to continue saving. The financial opportunities you can attain by saving money on a consistent basis, at a young age are endless.” Celebrating Credit Union Youth Month is just one of the many ways that Dover Federal encourages their members to pump up their savings!

Dover Federal Credit Union is the largest credit union in the state of Delaware, with a membership of over 45,000. Dover Federal has offices in Smyrna, New Castle, Milford, and Dover, including one at Dover Air Force Base. To experience the Dover Federal Credit Union family, visit www.doverfcu.com.
