The Rescignos Return to Delaware

57

resTwins and Delaware natives Robbie and Paul Rescigno returned home for a one night only performance of their award-winning comedy show The Rescignos at the Milton Theatre. With a room full of Milford fans and family, donning their sweater vests, received a standing ovation for their old-school vaudeville-style act with original music.

“I love coming back,” said Robbie. “Even if it’s a just a short trip…there’s an ease about being in Delaware.”

“Yeah, it was really great. We’ve performed a bunch of places, but there’s nothing like being home again,” said Paul. “We are so thankful to everyone who came out that night, and also to Fred Munzert and all the folks at the Milton Theatre who helped make it all possible.”

Robbie and Paul Rescigno both graduated from Milford Senior High School in 2002 and attended Syracuse University where they each received degrees in acting. Now they are living and working in New York City while performing their own cabaret theatre. During their freshman year of college the twins were encouraged by Jerry Thompson, former Band Director at the Milford High School, to begin their own show. It was that suggestion that inspired Robbie and Paul to continually develop a show during their tenure in college. They kept notes and drafts as they waited for their chance to bring it to life.

The Rescignos had its first performance in 2006 at Syracuse University. Since then, Paul and Robbie have been developing shows, and in the past three years they have performed regularly to sold-out crowds in New York City’s cabaret rooms, winning both the 2011 Nightlife Award and the 2011 Bistro Award.

Performing originals at the Milton Theatre like the Delaware National Anthem, Just Adjust your Dreams and Facebook Friend in Me, the Rescignos brought their playful interaction and quick quips to the stage, with a Milford twist. “You want to know what’s funny,” said Paul to Robbie during the performance of Facebook Friend in Me. “Facebook says I have 499 friends. Suck it Middle School.”

The Rescignos will be in Vermont on August 13 continuing their “tour of the smallest states in the country.” Until they come back to Delaware, fans can see them in an episode of the latest season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt currently streaming on Netflix and also their live performances at http://therescignos.com.
“There’s something wonderful about the shared experience of live theater, both in terms of putting a show together and in terms of that shared moment with the audience during a performance,” said Robbie. “There’s nothing quite like it.”

“I can’t say enough good things about that night. What an amazing feeling to perform for a sold out crowd filled with all the wonderful people I grew up with,” said Paul.
