Staff Report

Services at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Outpatient Physical Therapy have expanded with the addition of staff member Jessica Bayer, PT, DPT, WCS, CLT. She offers pelvic health services for women and men. Bayer is now accepting new patients.

Board certified in women’s health, Bayer offers care and treatment for individuals experiencing urinary or fecal incontinence and urgency, constipation, and pelvic or abdominal scarring. She also treats women during and after pregnancy for
musculoskeletal pain and other pregnancy related issues, and treats men after prostate cancer surgery.

A graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bayer comes to Milford from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she completed a post-doctoral residency in women’s health at the University of Pittsburgh. She has practiced in Pittsburgh and Delaware, specializing in pelvic health and cancer rehabilitation.

Patients are advised to get a diagnosis and prescription for treatment from a physician before scheduling an appointment.

Treatment, Bayer explained, is non-invasive, and typically involves one therapy session a week, one-on-one in a private setting. “There is a sense of teamwork between the therapist and patient,” Bayer said. “The emphasis is on education and self-management.” Most treatment plans last 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the scenario and the patient.

In addition, Bayer joins other certified lymphedema therapists on staff offering cancer rehabilitation. For more information, individuals are encouraged to call 302-430-5706.
