Attempted Burglary Mills Brothers Markets

On July 1, 2016 officers from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to Mills Brothers Markets in the 500 block of Southeast 2nd Street (Sussex County) following a report of a possible burglary. Upon arrival officers encountered Zachary J. Mills, 28 of Milford, in the rear store and took him into custody following a brief struggle. On June 39, 2016 officers investigated a similar burglary at Milford Mobil on Causey Avenue. After the investigation of both incidents warrants were obtained for Mr. Mills in both cases. Police state that Mr. Mills also attempted to escape custody while at the Milford Police Department, but was observed doing so prior to getting out of the handcuff. Warrants are pending for Mr. Mills for those actions. Mr. Mills has been charged with Burglary 2nd degree, Burglary 3rd degree, 2 counts of Possession of Burglars Tools, 2 counts of Criminal Mischief, Resisting Arrest, and 3 counts of Offensive Touching of Law Enforcement. Mr. Mills was presented at Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $25,000.00 secured bond. Mr. Mills has been committed to the custody of the Sussex Correctional Institution after failing to post bond.
