Duck In Focuses on Customer Service

By Terry Rogers

Duck In Car Wash, located behind Wawa on Arenson Drive in Milford, offers more than a clean car, inside and out. Owner Garrett Grier says that he focuses on providing the best customer service possible every day.

“Duck In Car Wash was designed to provide the cleanest car possible at a fair price in a timely manner,” Mr. Grier said. “We are open seven days a week depending on weather, allowing customers convenient times for customers with busy schedules to get their car washed. Our full-service was services range in price from $13.50 to $25 and we offer exterior only packages that range from $7 to $10. We even offer detailing services by appointment only Monday through Friday.”

In addition to their regular services, Duck In Car Wash offers a VIP program. Customers are able to register their vehicle or vehicles and receive discounts based on the frequency they use the car wash. VIP customers also receive a free car wash on their birthday and the 13th wash is free. Members are also offered discounts on detail services along with other promotions. There is no cost to become a VIP member. There is also a program for fleet or commercial vehicle owners who are able to charge vehicle washes and receive a bill on the first of the month, allowing them up to 30 days for payment.

According to Mr. Grier, keeping vehicles clean is important, not only for personal satisfaction, but to extend the life of the car. He said that every customer is different in relation to how often they should wash their car based on where they go and how often they drive. Some may need their car washed once a week while others may only need it once a month. Mr. Grier said that the detailing service offered at Duck In is something most owners could not do on their own.

“We do both inside and outside detailing and have special prices for just inside or out,” Mr. Grier said. “We use all Armor All products within our car wash providing the best chemicals on the market to clean your car. Some of the chemicals that are unique range from the triple polish wax, body shield and extreme wax. The underbody wash is something that most people do not have the ability to do at home and is extremely important if your vehicle has been on the beach or after a snow storm when salt has covered the vehicle.”

Mr. Grier opened Duck In Car Wash ten years ago with the Milford location opening in 2006. He opened a second location in Seaford in 2014. While attending college at Elon University, Mr. Grier worked at Wheels and Bumpers Car Wash, a full-service car wash that was very successful. Mr. Grier said that he greatly respected the owner of the company as he was dedicated to his business but enjoyed working with the customers and the employees. Mr. Grier was studying business at college and knew he wanted to be an entrepreneur although he was not sure what type of business he wanted to start. After working at Wheels and Bumpers, he knew that if he could ever open a full-service car wash, that was what he wanted to do.

The car wash services all types of vehicles, including those with soft tops. The equipment used is considered brushless and soft cloth, so they are safe on convertibles and Jeeps. However, he suggests that anyone with a soft top who has concerns ask a manage to inspect the top to ensure the equipment is safe. Mr. Grier said that one of the aspects of his business that differs from other car washes is that there is a manager on duty at all times.

“We put a high level of importance on customer service,” Mr. Grier said. “We have multiple locations which allows customers to take advantage of getting their car washed in both southern and central Delaware. Our VIP program allows for several discounting opportunities while our competitive prices allow for customers to wash their cars more frequently. Delaware is lucky to have several top notch washes to choose from, but I strive hard each and every day to do the best I can to provide the customer with a good wash, at a fair price, in a timely manner, on every visit.”
