sb2One unique boutique in Milford is welcoming creative minds with two events happening on Walnut Street in downtown. Whether attending the Halloween Party & Costume Contest on Saturday, October 29 or Be a Princess for a Day event on Saturday, November 5, families have the chance to exercise their full imagination for these fun events.

Opening in 2014, Sugar Bee features over 120 jars filled with different types of candy on their candy wall alone and dozens of gourmet chocolate options as they specialize in items that cannot be purchased in local stores including nostalgic candy lines from the 1940’s on. In addition to gourmet chocolates and fine candies, the boutique also offers reduced and sugar free candy and local honey for all individuals that have a sweet tooth. They also offer custom order items and provide candy bar services for weddings, birthdays and other events.

On, Saturday, October 29 Sugar Bee Boutique, located at 40 N Walnut St, will be hosting a Halloween Party & Costume Contest. In addition to enjoying Halloween activities like the Wrap your Mummy contest, event goers in costume will have the chance to compete for free gourmet chocolates and fine candies.

“With Halloween on a Monday this year, we knew we had to make an opportunity for kids to have fun on the weekend,” said Sugar Bee owner Peggy Reilly. “We are excited to see all of the creative families and kids in their Halloween costumes.”

There will be three competitions based on age groups during the event from 12 pm to 3 pm. Ages under 10 will compete at 12:20pm, ages 10-18 will compete at 1:00pm and ages 18 and older will compete at 1:40pm. Categories will include Cutest, Scariest, Most Original and Best Group costumes. Owners of Sugar Bee ask that party goers show up at least 20 minutes prior to their age group.

On Saturday, November 5 Sugar Bee will host Be a Princess for a Day event and welcome families to join several princesses at the downtown location. Princesses at Sugar Bee will include the Ice Queen, Ice Princess, Cinderella, Belle, Sugar Plum and Ariel with a few other special guest as well. Children can enjoy activities including learning royal etiquette and take photos with their favorite princess.

“It is always fun playing someone else for a day,” said Sugar Bee owner Sherry Shupe. “We are excited to see all the princesses walking down Walnut Street in full royal regalia.”

At this event Love Bella Creations will also be in store to feature their custom tutus, bows, flower girl dresses and costumes. Offering a varied assortment of all items at the event, owner Catherine Durham encourages event goers that if they “have something in mind that [they] don’t see, we will be happy to do a custom order to meet your needs.”
Owners of Sugar Bee remind participants that these events are for the entire family. Before and after the main attractions, Sugar Bee staff is more than happy to help children with the candy wall and adults with gourmet chocolates. Those looking to spend the day downtown can walk Walnut Street and visit other boutiques for clothing and gifts and visit local restaurants for food and drink.
