When community partners work together for the benefit of veterans, positive results happen. In particular, designated parking spots for Veterans have been introduced at local businesses throughout the state. With initiative from Elaine Pinkowski, professional and community liaison for Compassionate Care Hospice, Veteran Parking Only signs were created to provide our most valuable resource, our veterans, with a dedicated parking spot at local business entities. Ms. Pinkowski works intimately with veterans and realizes the positive impact on their well-being that can arise from providing recognition to those who have protected our freedom. She stated “It’s more than just a sign; it’s a reflection of honor and support for all our military have done to support our freedom.” From its inception, Ms. Pinkowski has reached out to companies, such as Dover Federal Credit Union, to seek their interest in providing a dedicated parking spot for veterans. Deb Jewell, Dover Federal Credit Union, recognized Army Veteran Phyllis D. Moore, as being the first veteran to park in one of their dedicated Veteran Parking Only space. Ms. Jewell stated, “Our support of the military reflects our commitment to Dover Federal’s heritage as well as our appreciation for being provided the opportunity to serve the military and their families.”

Dover Federal Credit Union is the largest credit union in the state of Delaware, with a membership of over 45,000. Dover Federal has offices in Smyrna, New Castle, Milford, and Dover, including one at Dover Air Force Base. To experience the Dover Federal Credit Union difference, visit
