Westside Restaurant Undergoes Remodel

By Terry Rogers

Over 20 years ago, what was the former Medd’s Dairy Market building, was transformed into Westside Diner, owned by Madula Kalesis. The restaurant specializes in family-style, homemade dishes in styles that range from traditional American to Greek and Mediterranean. Last month, the restaurant received a facelift as Bay Pro Contracting helped Kalesis transform the restaurant with a new, sleeker and more modern look.

“We have been her for 20 years and it was time for a little change,” Ms. Kalesis said. “We just felt the restaurant needed a little pick me up. When we chose colors, black just seemed so nice and clean. We felt it would add a more contemporary look to the restaurant.” Ms. Kalesis said that they chose Bay Pro Contracting after seeing other work they had done in the area and their knowledge of older buildings who often have specific needs that newer buildings may not.

Ms. Kalesis said that the although the restaurant itself has a new look, the menu has not changed. The restaurant offers a variety of with daily specials, but the foods that the people of Milford have grown to love remain on the menu. She said that they hope to have the entire restaurant remodeled by summer.

“We still have a lot of work to do in the restaurant,” Ms. Kalesis said. “We are looking into applying for Delaware Development District grants to help us with the remaining projects we want to complete. We are very pleased with the outcome so far and Bay Pro has done an amazing job for us. The restaurant just looks more fresh and modern. We also hope to expand our outside seating area which is open during warm weather. We just want our customers to know that the same seafood, pasta and comfort food they love will still be served even though the inside of the restaurant looks a little different.”

Westside Restaurant, located at 101 Maple Avenue, is open seven days a week, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Monday through Saturday they are open from 6 Am until 8 PM and on Sunday from 6 AM until 3 PM. Their daily specials are listed on their Facebook page. They also offer catering services which can be arranged by calling 302-424-4888.
