Woman Arrested After Incident at Hospital

 

 

On March 25, 2017, Milford Police Department Patrol Division was dispatched to Bayhealth: Milford Memorial Hospital for an assault of a staff member. Investigation revealed that the victim was performing her duties as a nurse in the emergency room when the suspect, Machelle R. Shepherd-Shaw, 28 of Milford DE, allegedly kicked the victim in the right arm. This action allegedly caused alarm to the victim, but the victim did not sustain any injury from the incident. It was advised that the kick was an intentional action of the suspect against the victim. Police state that the investigation revealed that Shepherd-Shaw allegedly appeared to be intoxicated when the incident occurred and was allegedly being disorderly. A warrant was obtained for Shepherd-Shaw for one count of Offensive Touching Of Hospital Or Nursing Home Employee, a Physician, Or Medical Professional in reference to this incident.

On March 27, 2017, Shepherd-Shaw was taken into custody without incident and transported to Milford Police Department. She was charged with the above charge. She was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was released on her own recognizance and was issued a no contact order between her and the victim. She was order to appear at a later date in Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.
