On April 9, 2017 at approximately 1200 hours, Milford Police Department Patrol Division was dispatched to a suspicious person in the area of Dollar General in the Milford Plaza. It was advised that the subject was allegedly following women to their vehicles. A description of the subject was provided to officers, who located the subject walking from the Dollar General. The subject who was identified as Eric Jarrett, 45 of Milford, DE, first identified himself as a different person to officers. Police state that through investigation, it was determined that the name that Jarrett provided to officers was false and his true identity was confirmed. It was also learned that Jarrett was wanted on two capiases, one out of Kent County Court of Common Pleas and another out of Justice of the Peace Court 7. During a search of Jarrett, several unopened items from Dollar General were allegedly located on his person. When asked to provide a receipt for the merchandise, one could not be produced for all the merchandise, but a receipt was located that showed that Jarrett had recently been inside the store. Officers made contact with the store and learned that Jarrett allegedly shoplifted the items from the store.
Jarrett was taken into custody and charged with Shoplifting Under $1500 and Criminal Impersonation. He was arraigned on the new charges as well as the two capiases through Justice of the Peace Court 7. Jarrett was released on $2000.00 unsecured bail with a no contact order with Dollar General. He was order to appear in Justice of the Peace Court 7 as well as Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date in reference to the new charges and the capiases.
