Police Seeking Laurel Man

On May 9, 2017 at approximately 2:08 am, officers from the Milford Police Department responded to an apartment on Allen Way in the Brightway Commons apartment complex to a report of a physical altercation. Upon arrival an officer observed the vehicle the suspect was reportedly operating. The officer activated all emergency equipment on the patrol vehicle and attempted to get the suspect to stop. The suspect failed to stop and was followed into the Lincoln area and eventually back north through the limits of Milford and eventually to Frederica, where the officer terminated the pursuit. Further investigation determined the suspect engaged in a physical altercation with the victim in the apartment, causing minor injuries to the victim that required treatment by Carlisle Fire Company personnel. Warrants have been obtained for Zackery Smith, 25 of Laurel, for charges related to the physical altercation and the subsequent traffic violations that followed. Mr. Smith is also wanted by the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas, Sussex County Superior Court, Justice of the Peace Court #4, and Sussex County Family Court. Milford Police urge anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Smith to call 302.422.8081 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.TIP.3333.
