DDC Plans Belle and Friends Tea Party

By Terry Rogers

On Sunday, May 21 from 2 to 4 PM, Delaware Dance Company will hold a “Belle and Friends Tea Party” at the Causey Mansion. The event is a garden party that will showcase the dance company’s latest ballet production costumes from the “Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast,” “Under the Sea,” “Snow White,” and other ballets they have performed. The event is designed to raise funds for and support the dance company to continue their efforts to provide quality arts programming in the community.

“BK Rentals has graciously donated tents, tables and cute mismatched tea sets for the event,” Carie DeBaca, organizer of the event, said. “The Causey Mansion has donated their beautiful grounds and there will be fresh flowers everywhere, making it feel like a garden party, for sure! Attendants will be greeted at the welcome table, seated and served by Belle and her friends. There will be themed music and Soundsations has donated a photo booth for pictures throughout the event.” Characters will circulate and pose for photos, serve tea sandwiches, treats, lemonade and tea to make the event feel like a true tea party. The event will end with a parade of princesses around the beautiful Causey Mansion grounds.

Ms. DeBaca said that the idea for the event came from parents of dancers who felt a tea party would be fun for children and adults alike. She said they decided on an outdoor themed party with princesses and magical costumes to make it exciting for attendees. The Causey Mansion was the perfect location for an outdoor tea party, Ms. DeBaca said, and they are very grateful to the owners for donating the location.

“We plan to have Belle and her friends from the Beast’s castle,” Ms. DeBaca said. “We also plan to have Ariel, Snow White, Elsa, Ana, Rapunzel, Jazmine, Alice, Dorothy, Glinda and many more of Belle’s friends. Every girl, young and old, loves the magical feeling of being around friends, music and beautiful dresses. We have these costumes from our former productions and they are amazingly made. Not all costumes are truly made for the Disney version of the characters but we have plenty to choose from and these princesses can look great in anything.”

Tickets are available and can be purchased online. The cost is $10 for adults and $15 for children. Tickets must be purchased in advance as there is limited seating.
