One Dead, One Wounded After Shooting

Detectives from the Milford Police Department have charged a 34 year old Dover man as an investigation into a early morning shooting at the Silver Lake Estates Apartment Complex continues. Milford Police have charged Don R. Martinez, 36 of Dover, with Murder 1st Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited. Investigation revealed that Mr. Martinez and Kevin M. King, 36 of Ellendale had engaged in a physical altercation, that eventually lead to Mr. Martinez firing multiple rounds from a handgun striking Mr. King. Mr. King was reportedly removed from the scene by Mr. Martinez in a vehicle that was later located by Dover Police and the Delaware State Police near Route 10, with Mr. King being found deceased inside. Mr. Martinez was apprehended near the abandoned vehicle by the Delaware State Police. A 31 year old male was also wounded by gunfire during the incident and was treated at Bayhealth in Milford and released. Mr. Martinez was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #7, where bail was set at $1,000,000.00 cash only. Mr. Martinez has been committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the Sussex Correctional Institution.

Original Post – Detectives of the Milford Police Department Criminal Investigations Division are currently investigating a shooting that occurred at Silver Lake Estates Apartment Complex located off of Linstone Lane Milford, DE. According to police, preliminary investigation has revealed that the shooting has left a 36 year old male dead and a 31 year old male wounded. The 31 year old victim was treated at the hospital and released and the 36 year old victim was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science. This case is in the early stages of investigation and further information will be released as it is deemed appropriate.
