Arrested For Burglary And Strangulation


On June 30, 2017 at approximately 4:32 a.m., Milford Police Department Patrol Division responded to Lucia Circle Milford, DE, reference to an incident. The investigation revealed that a Brandon Barnes, 30 of Lewes, DE, allegedly responded to the residence and kicked the door in causing damage to the door. He then allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim inside the residence. Both Barnes and the victim then went outside the residence due to small children being present inside the residence where the verbal altercation allegedly became physical. Investigation revealed that Barnes allegedly began to choke the victim. Investigation revealed that Barnes allegedly stopped choking the victim and then fled from the scene. A warrant was obtained for Barnes in reference to this incident.

On 07/03/2017, Barnes turned himself into Milford PD where he was charged with Burglary Second Degree: Dwelling, Strangulation, 4 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Criminal Mischief Under $1000: Damage Property. He was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $8500.00 unsecured bail. A no contact order was placed between him and the victim. He was ordered to appear in Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date for a preliminary hearing.
