DE Tech Wins US Cyber Challenge

Delaware Tech students Krystian Bates, Hannah Curran, Alex Reuben and Hannah Tattan capped off an intense week of information security learning and application at the U.S. Cyber Challenge (USCC) camp in Delaware by winning a July 21, 2017 Capture-the-Flag competition, which recognizes them as some of the nation’s top security talent.

Attendees to the invitation-only camp, which was held on the University of Delaware campus, were selected based in part on their scores from Cyber Quests, an online competition offered through USCC in April that drew hundreds of competitors nationally. This week’s camp event was conducted in collaboration with Delaware Tech, University of Delaware, Delaware State University, Wilmington University, and the Delaware Department of Technology and Information.

The 2017 Cyber Summer Camp Series features three week-long camps located in Delaware, Illinois and Utah. The camps are an integral part of the USCC mission to identify and develop cybersecurity talent in order to reduce the nation’s cybersecurity workforce gap. Participants are encouraged to continue developing their skills and network with like-minded individuals by becoming active members in CyberCompEx.org, an online community specifically geared toward cybersecurity enthusiasts.
