Man Arrested For DUI

 

On 09/03/2017 at approximately 8:46 p.m., The Milford Police Department received a call of a vehicle traveling erratic and failing to maintain a single lane on Route 1 northbound in the area of Route 14. The vehicle was described as a White Dodge Ram pick-up truck. The Patrol Division responded to the area and located the described vehicle in the area of Route 1 northbound in the area of NE 10th St. Officers observed the vehicle failing to maintain a single lane and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. As contact was made with the operator, an odor of alcohol was observed coming from the operator and the vehicle. The operator of the vehicle was identified as James Catts, 50 of Smyrna, DE. It was also learned that there were two juveniles in the vehicle with Catts. Further investigation revealed that Catts was under the influence of alcohol and taken into custody without incident. It was also learned that he had a firearm in his possession while under the influence of alcohol.

Catts was charged with two counts of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child while DUI, one count of Possession Of A Firearm While Under The Influence, one count of Driving A Vehicle Under The Influence of Alcohol, and one count of Failed To Remain Within A Single Lane. Catts was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released to a sobered individual on $2001.00 USC unsecured bail. He was ordered to appear in Kent County Court of Common Pleas at a later date. The juveniles that were in the vehicle were turned over to a guardian.
