A Certified Pennsylvania Elm Street Manager and previous independent business owner, Zlotziver comes to DMI with 30+ years of non-profit administration, economic and fund development, and public relations experience.
Zlotizver was the Elm Street Manager for the Mifflinburg Heritage & Revitalization Association in Mifflinburg, PA for five years before moving to Milford. The Pennsylvania Elm Street certification parallels the Main Street four-point approach: Design (Design), Image & Identity (Promotion), Sustainable Organization (Organization), Neighbors & Economy (Economic Vitality) and Clean, Safe & Green.
He also owned Page After Page community bookstore and Note After Note, which produced musical events and managed musical groups, in Lewisburg, PA since 2008. Zlotziver’s experience as a small-town business owner will be valuable to DMI’s Economic Vitality Committee as they work with the City of Milford to recruit and retain businesses within DMI’s boundaries.
Steve Twilley, DMI’s previous executive director, resigned in March and past Executive Director, Lorraine Dion, filled in as Interim Executive Director through July.
“We are excited to have someone of Murrie’s experience and enthusiasm to bring a new perspective to DMI and our mission of promoting and advancing Milford’s Downtown,” said Lisa Fitzgerald, president of the DMI Board of Directors.
Zlotziver’s primary responsibilities will be to advocate for and build awareness of DMI’s goals and activities, and to work closely with all of DMI’s many partners and stakeholders to build upon the civic, commercial, and cultural development of Milford’s Downtown. He will be in training within his first week and will be working with volunteers on DMI’s largest fundraiser, the new We Are Milford Party on Sept. 30.
“I look forward to working with the DMI Board, the City of Milford, and especially the downtown businesses to emphasize Milford’s strengths, assets, history, and even its quirkiness,” Zlotziver said. “I want to build on Milford’s uniqueness – the things that tell a compelling story about the advantages of doing business downtown – supporting locally owned independent businesses.”
Zlotziver can be reached at email@example.com or at 302-839-1180.
