The City of Milford’s contractor, Diamond Materials of Newport, DE will complete phase C1 of the Airport Road Rehabilitation Project on Monday, September 18, 2017. The section between DuPont Blvd (US 113) and Delaware Veterans Blvd will reopen to traffic on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Phase B between Canterbury Rd and Delaware Veterans Blvd will be closed to traffic on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, and is expected to be closed through October 8, 2017 The rehabilitation of this section includes subbase repair, subbase paving, and drainage improvements. Traffic during this phase will be directed to Bowman Rd and to DE14/US113.
The overall project includes pavement base repair, drainage improvements and pavement overlay of approximately 1.4 miles of Airport Road between DuPont Boulevard (US 113) and Canterbury Road (DE 15). Work on the projected $2.4 million-dollar project is expected to be completed by December 1, 2017. The pavement base repair and drainage improvements will necessitate a full closure of the roadway during construction.
Upon completion of all roadway subbase repair and drainage work, and final top coat of asphalt will be laid over the entire roadway, which will occur between November 13 and December 1.
The sectional closures in the future are anticipated as follows:
Phase A – Between Delaware Veterans Blvd and Bowman Road. During this phase the detour will be through the Milford Business Park using Mullet Run and Brent Jordan Way, and will be done in two separate phases to allow access to the Jehovah Witness Church beginning October 14 through November 10.
