On September 17, 2018 Milford Police arrested a Milford man to complete an investigation into a robbery that occurred on Franklin Street on 09.14.2017. On 09.14.017 approximately 9:30 pm, the victim was walking in the area of Franklin Street and Marshall Street when he was approached by the suspect who displayed a knife. The suspect cut the victim with the knife and attempted to remove property from his pockets, but was unable to do so. At that time the suspect fled after the victim stated he was going to notify the police. The victim was transported to Bayhealth in Milford to be treated for his injuries. The suspect was unable to be located by responding officers. On 09.17.2017 Milford Police were notified by the victim that he had witnessed the suspect at Walmart. At that time responded to Walmart to locate and identify the suspect. Upon arrival officers contacted Jorge L. Romero, 37 of Milford. Mr. Romero, who initially gave an incorrect name, was taken into custody with incident. A subsequent search of Mr. Romero determined he was in possession of drug paraphernalia and items that were taken from Walmart that had not been paid for. Mr. Romero has been charged with Shoplifting, Criminal Impersonation, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Attempted Robbery First Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, and Assault Second Degree. Mr. Romero was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #3 in Georgetown, where bail was set at $69,500.00 secured. Mr. Romero was committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the Sussex Correctional Institution.
