On September 20, 2017 at 6:06 p.m., the Milford Police Department Patrol Division responded to Mispillion Apartments for a physical altercation. Through investigation it was learned that one of the parties, Tia Harris, 19 of Milford, DE, had engaged in a verbal altercation with Jerome Coard, 24 of Milford, DE about him leaving the residence, but he allegedly refused to leave. During the allegedly verbal altercation, Coard allegedly spit in Harris’ face. From there, Harris allegedly sprayed Mace (Oleoresin Capsicum) in Coard’s face and then spit in his face.

Both Harris and Coard were taken into custody. Harris was charged with Assault 3rd Degree and Coard was charged with Offensive Touching Of Another With Saliva. Harris had a presentment through Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $500.00 unsecured bail with a future court date in Sussex County Family Court. Coard had a presentment through Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $500.00 unsecured bail with a future court date in Sussex County Family Court. Coard was also ordered to have no unlawful contact with Harris.
