Tree Lighting to cap Small Business Saturday

Released by City of Milford

Residents and visitors are invited to the City of Milford tree lighting event on November 25, 2017 from 5 to 5:30 p.m. The Milford Central Academy Chorus will lead a community holiday sing-a-long as residents and visitors gather in front of City Hall, 201 S. Walnut, as we prepare to turn on the holiday lights in downtown Milford, starting with the two holly trees in front of City Hall.

“We encourage residents and visitors to join with friends and neighbors for the tree lighting after enjoying a day of shopping local,” stated Mayor Bryan Shupe.

Saturday, November 25 is also Shop Small Business Saturday and the first Saturday of the Downtown Milford Santa House. Downtown businesses will be open all day Saturday, so shoppers can begin their holiday shopping by Shopping Small in the unique stores and galleries of downtown Milford. Santa and Mrs. Claus will open the Santa House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day as well.

Mayor Bryan Shupe notes this is a season to be thankful and to think about others. So, he encourages those who attend the tree lighting event to bring a non-perishable food item to benefit the Food Bank of Delaware. “We know there are Milfordians who are challenged to make ends meet during colder months. I hope everyone will help those who might otherwise be hungry this holiday season, by bringing a can or box of food to the tree lighting event,” urged Mayor Shupe.
