On December 31st an officer from the Milford Police Department working a special impaired driving patrol associated with a partnership with the Delaware Office of Highway Safety, arrested a 52 year old man following an investigation into impaired driving. The officer observed a Chevrolet Camaro stationary at a green light for an extended period of time at the intersection of North Washington Street and Northeast Front Street (SR 14). The officer then observed the vehicle eventually proceed from the intersection and the operator using a cellular phone. A subsequent stop of the vehicle and further investigation, which included the operator providing a false name, led to George H. Bibbins, 52 of Milford, being taken into custody. Mr. Bibbins has been charged with 7th Offense Driving a Vehicle under the Influence of Alcohol, Criminal Impersonation, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, and Using Electronic Communication Device While Motor Vehicle Is In Motion. Mr. Bibbins was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #7, where bail was set at $5601.00. Mr. Bibbins was committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the Sussex Correctional Institution. Mr. Bibbins is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on January 12th at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas.
