Firefly Music Festival, the east coast’s largest music and camping festival, is returning to The Woodlands for the seventh year June 14 to 17, 2018. Along with headliners Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Arctic Monkeys, and The Killers, the lineup also features ODESZA, Lil Wayne, Logic, Martin Garrix, SZA, alt-J, Portugal. The Man, Foster the People, MGMT, Mike D (DJ set) and more.
The 2018 festival will feature the return of staple Firefly attractions, with additions being announced as the festival approaches. Firefly is once again partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for the seventh consecutive year and various initiatives will benefit their Music Gives to St. Jude Kids program.
Erica Rae Lokai of Magnolia, DE has been to the festival every year since its inception in 2012. The “wide varieties of music and the ability to see and experience new musicians among thousands of other music lovers” is what draws her back.
She looks forward to listening to the performers on the lineup poster that are in smaller print. “In 2012 imagine dragons was one of those tiny printed names on a small stage and look where they are now, seeing their growth from 2012 to a main stage in 2014 was a really cool experience, I’d love to experience something like this again.”
Firefly Music Festival has become the east coast’s largest alt-rock, hip-hop and electronic music and camping festival, taking place annually in The Woodlands of Dover, DE. The Woodlands is the place where festival fans immerse themselves in amazing performances, enjoy a wide assortment of food selections, spend late nights with friends in the campgrounds, and make memories that last a lifetime.
Stephanie Greenly of Ellendale, DE has attended Firefly for the last five years and enjoys meeting new people from all over the county and the world. “Last year one of our camp neighbors was from London, and the year before that we met people from India,” said Greenly. “It’s amazing to see so many different people and cultures coming together in our little state.”
She is excited to see headliner Eminem and also performances by alt-J, Jimmy Eat World, The Man, Arctic Monkeys and The Killers. For Greenly it is much more than the shows, it is the unique experience that makes Firefly so much fun. “I camp as well, and the campground is where most of the memories are made,” she said. “You meet so many different characters and share laughs and stories. The experience is what you make it.”
