Recently, Delaware Branding announced their latest venture in Milford, Delaware River Adventures. The new business offers a unique opportunity to see the city of Milford while floating on the river.
“We will be offering hourly rentals as well as full river trips to Slaughter Beach,” Cat Perfetti, co-owner of Delaware Branding said. “We will offer fishing on Silver and Haven Lakes as well. River-goers just need to show up, we load up their gear and get them to the launch point. Once they are done or reach their destination, we will pick them up and get them back to headquarters. A variety of kayak types will be available as well as canoes.” The kayaks and canoes will be headquartered at 19 Northwest Front Street in Milford.
Perfetti said that she came up with the idea after Milford installed their new floating kayak dock, knowing that there was a need for this type of business after noticing there were not many kayaks on the river. She and her husband Mike began asking how many people in Milford actually owned kayaks.
“Unbeknownst to me, Mike had run canoes in the late 1980s up and down the Delaware River in the Poconos, Pennsylvania from Port Jervis, New York to Portland, New Jersey,” Perfetti said. “This means he has some experience doing this type of thing. We will provide a quick instruction, paddles, life jackets. Kayaks and canoes are available for hourly rentals or complete river trips.”
Perfetti said that Delaware River Adventures will only be renting kayaks, not selling them and there are no plans for guided tours. Current pricing will include hourly to full day rates from $30 to $80.
“Milford offers a great place for tourists to getaway from their vacation,” Perfetti said. “We hear it all the time at the tattoo shop. People drive past ten tattoo shops to come for a respite from their shore vacation. With businesses like ours, we hope to help Milford flip this scenario and become the primary choice for destination, making the shore secondary on the itinerary.”
