Altercation Leads To Arrest Of Dover Man

On 03.20.2018 at approximately 1:33 am officers from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to an apartment on Allen Way in Brightway Commons to an altercation. Upon arrival officers learned Donald L. Hackett, 59 of Dover, and the victim engaged in a verbal altercation. During this exchange it’s been reported Mr. Hackett pushed the victim back into the apartment and locked the door. It’s also been alleged Mr. Hackett took possession of the victim’s phone to prevent police from being contacted. A responding officer was able to locate Mr. Hackett as he was leaving the residence and took him into custody without incident. It was also learned as part of this investigation that Mr. Hackett was wanted by the Kent County Court of Common Pleas, Kent County Family Court, and Kent County Superior Court. Mr. Hackett has been charged with Unlawful Imprisonment, Offensive Touching, and Malicious Interference With Emergency Communications. Mr. Hackett was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #7, where bail was set at $1700.00 secured. Mr. Hackett was committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the Sussex Correctional Institution. Mr. Hackett is scheduled for an appearance at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on 03.28.2018.
