The southern chapter of The Next Generation (Next Gen South) of the Delaware Community Foundation raised more than $12,000 at its Sixth Annual Chowdown for Charity on February 23, 2018 at Maple Dale Country Club.

In the friendly culinary competition, Brickworks Brewing & Eats was dubbed “Chowdown Champion 2018,” beating out signature dishes from competitors The Greene Turtle, Dover, Maple Dale Country Club, Chaiyo, FINS Oyster House, Lefty’s Alley & Eats, Grandpa Mac, Wild Quail Country Club, Bluecoast Rehoboth, and Starboard RAW.

The funds raised will support grants for local nonprofit organizations supporting addiction treatment and family support services. Since Chowdown for Charity’s inception, Next Gen South has awarded more than $72,500 in grants.

“Next Gen South is dedicated to helping our neighbors and strengthening our communities. This is not possible without everyone who contributed to make Chowdown for Charity such a success,” said Board President, Verity Watson. “We are sincerely grateful for the support of our communities and look forward to making further investments into Kent and Sussex counties.”
