Ed Tyll, Delaware 105.9 FM
It’s been almost three months to the day that I rolled up onto South Walnut Street to begin my new gig as midday talk show host on WXDE-FM Delaware 105.9 News Talk Radio located on Blairs Pond Road. It was a radiant sunny Sunday in January and it was the prefect showcase for the local Chamber of Commerce. The Mispillion was shimmering and glistening alongside the Riverfront Theatre. Santa’s House basking in the sunshine and couples with dogs smiling as they strolled the downtown which was oozing with charm. My first words out loud to myself were, “wow, it looks like one of those sweet spots that you see in the movies, but I’m actually here!”.
Living and working in Milford seemed the perfect way to get quickly acquainted with my new listeners and the best place for my longtime listeners to redisover my radio show as I got settled in. Shopping fresh fruit and veggies at GIGANTE, enjoying crab dip at the GEORGIA HOUSE and taking in the awesomely laid out windows of GALLERY 37 after chatting up my new neighbors remains my weekly routine.
Flower pots on lamp posts, bicycles whirring by and smiles from ear to ear are the language of my new home, Milford 19963.
Each day I plan my talk radio topics overlooking the river with some fresh Royal Farms coffee and I wrap up each day with three scoops of Vanderwede Ice Cream! In an era of political tension and constant arguing about everything under the sun, I cherish my new community and honor everyone at every age that I’m lucky to get to know.
Milford is the perfect oasis in a desert of a world; thank you for opening your door and heart to me.
