U.S. President Harding visited Milford

On this date in 1923, President Warren G. Harding visited Milford, the only president to come to our town. President Harding was inducted into the Masonic Lodge #49, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and came to Milford at the request of the Grier brothers, owners of L.D. Caulk. After a trip downstate from Wilmington, President Harding made a whirlwind tour of the Milford Ballpark and a parade was held in his honor on Walnut Street. The president dined at the home of Dr. Frank L. Grier and then drove to Lewes to meet the presidential yacht that carried him back to Washington.
