NOTICE OF SOLICITATION OF SECOND WARD CANDIDATES

Filing Deadline for 2018 City of Milford Special Election

Notice is hereby given that a Special Election will be held in the City of Milford at Milford City Hall on THURSDAY, AUGUST 23, 2018 from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.  The purpose of the Special Election is to fill a vacant Council Seat in the Second Ward.  The candidate elected would serve the remainder of the unexpired term that ends in May 2019.  Candidates will be voted upon solely by the electors of the Second Ward.

All interested candidates for this office must file a nominating petition for the vacant seat, signed by not less than ten registered voters from Ward Two.

The Candidate Packet and Nominating Petition can be obtained Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the City Clerk’s Office at Milford City Hall, 201 South Walnut Street, Milford, Delaware.  If the interested person is unavailable during those hours, other times can be arranged by calling 302-422-1111.  Qualifications are published in local newspapers and on the City of Milford website (cityofrnilford.com).

The filing deadline for the vacant Office of Second Ward Councilmember is Monday, June 25, 2018.  

NOTICE TO QUALIFIED VOTERS IN THE CITY OF MILFORD

Residents of the City of Milford & Non-Resident Property Owners Eligible to Vote 

in City of Milford Elections

Please note that having registered through the State of Delaware, Kent County or Sussex County Department of Elections does not qualify you to vote in a City of Milford Election. To be eligible, you must be registered at Milford City Hall. New registrations are accepted from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday throughout the year at Milford City Hall.  In addition, arrangements will be made if you are unavailable during office hours.  Applicants are required to present verification of identity and residency and/or proof of ownership of property.

The deadline for registering to vote in the Special Ward Two Council Election is Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 4:30p.m.

ONLY PERSONS WHOSE NAME APPEARS ON THE CITY OF MILFORD VOTER REGISTER 

WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN THE UPCOMING ELECTION
