Charged With 4th Offense DUI

On 06.27.2018, at approximately 10:47 pm, an officer from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a parking lot in the 600 block of North DuPont Boulevard (US Rt 113) to a report of an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Investigation revealed John M. Gleysteen, 23 of Milford, and the victim engaged in a verbal altercation. During the verbal altercation Mr. Gleysteen reportedly pushed the victim away from the vehicle and proceeded to operate the vehicle to North DuPont Boulevard and travel north. A subsequent search for the vehicle located it being operated by Mr. Gleysteen in the area of McCoy Street and Marshall Street. Mr. Gleysteen was contacted and taken into custody without incident. Further investigation, that included field sobriety tests, led to a warrant being obtained for Mr. Gleysteen. Mr. Gleysteen has been charged with 4th Offense Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, and Offensive Touching. Mr. Gleysteen was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $6000.00 secured. Mr. Gleysteen has been committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the Sussex Correctional Institution. Mr. Gleysteen is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on 07.13.2018 for a preliminary hearing.
