Riverwalk “Freedom” Festival event organizers, the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Milford and Milford LIVE, are once again asking the public to help identify two Hometown Heroes to be honored at this year’s festival on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in Milford’s Bicentennial Park and throughout the Riverwalk area.
The organizers will select one male and one female from the nominations submitted. Angela Dorey, Riverwalk “Freedom” Festival chair stated, “There are so many selfless people in Milford that make our community great by doing wonderful things throughout the year. I love that the Hometown Heroes can be nominated by anyone, and I cannot wait to see who this year’s heroes will be.”
Local families are invited to nominate their Hometown Hero through email at email@example.com or on the MilfordLIVE.com Facebook page. Submissions should include a photo of the individual and a short description of what makes them your hero. Candidates for the Hometown Hero title can be veterans, current military, first responders, police, or any other individual in the community that you feel deserves recognition for their contribution and impact here in Milford. Nominees must be residents of Milford. Deadline for nominations is September 1, 2018.
“We want you to tell us about someone who helps those in need or touches the lives of others in our community,” stated MilfordLIVE.com owner Bryan Shupe. “We know that everyday Americans are out there quietly making an impact on their community and we want to hear about them. If you know a Milford resident that inspires you, please tell us.” The two selected Heroes will be honored during the 18th annual Riverwalk “Freedom” Festival.
This year, the festival will be held entirely in one day, starting at 9:00 a.m., and culminating with fireworks at dark. Activities include honoring the Hometown Hereos, boat parade, kids’ corner, food trucks, rubber duck dash, car show, beer & wine garden, over 100 vendors, “petriotic” pet parade, evening announcements & emcee by Steve Monz from Cool 101.3, and live music by local bands Cocktails at 3, Lincoln City, Federal Street Band and Plead the 5th. A magnificent fireworks display will end the evening at dark! There is literally something for everyone! More details and a timeline of events will be announced on www.facebook.com/RiverwalkFreedomFestival
