Man Arrested On Extortion Charges

On 07/30/2018 at 0854 hours, the Milford Police Department Criminal Investigations Division was notified of an extortion investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown subject left a note on the victim’s vehicle demanding an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency or the subject would kill the victim. Detectives determined that the threat was credible. Through further investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect as Nikolaih Rivera, 26 of Houston, DE.

On 08/08/2018, Detectives took Rivera into custody without incident. Rivera was charged with Extortion, Theft Under $1500, and Criminal Mischief Under $1000. Rivera had a presentment through Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Department of Corrections in default of $9250.00 USC secured bail and was issued a no contact order with the victim in the case. Rivera was ordered to appear at a later date in Kent County Court of Common Pleas for a preliminary hearing.
